The other night after a charming dinner with some of Mike's co-workers, we came upon the topic of the town pets (we didn't actually call them the town pets to Mike's co-workers). We mentioned that the night before we had seen the accident with one of the deer. We soon found out that if we ever hit a deer we should call Highway Patrol. Highway Patrol Officers in Corvallis are always excited to respond to a deer hit. Why? Because this is one of the few times they actually get to use their guns outside of the shooting range.
So, what becomes of the deer after the Highway Patrol Officer "takes care of it?" Well, the officer gets to skin it and deliver the meat to a homeless or abuse shelter in the local area. Apparently there is one homeless guy in Corvallis. However, we haven't had the pleasure of meeting him....yet.
We should also note that as we headed for home after the dinner, we ran into 3 deer. Oh wait, that didn't come out so well after the last post. We saw 3 deer (on the side of the road eating grass). It looked like most of them are doing well (just in case you were concerned).
